COLOURS OF MANOR PARK

The Project aims to deliver ‘creative’ building facade enhancement of the LBN-owned housing block situated at 1 Station Road / 681-691 Romford Road, London, E12 5AD at the junction of Romford Road. Investing in the appearance of the buildings at this junction was voted for by residents during the development of the Newham High Streets Programme. The project aims to continue engaging with the stakeholders to develop and finalise the design concept. The creative façade enhancement alongside the new murals aims to bring a sense of identity to Manor Park and make the area feel more welcoming. The project has two parts:

  • Part 1 involves works to enhance the look and feel of the façade of 1 Station Road, above Manor Park Library. This aims to create a more welcoming entrance to Manor Park by improving the facade of the corner building.
  • Part 2 involves the installation of one or more murals in the area surrounding 1 Station Road to highlight Manor Park’s local history and celebrate its identity.

Over the course of spring/summer 2023, we'll be working with you to determine the preferred improvement types. The works are expected to finish by June 2024 and will address recommendations in Newham High Streets Report ‘Manor Park Library’ and ‘Colours of Manor Park’. The concept design proposal for the project will be developed through a community co-design process and is likely to include:

  • Artistic enhancements to the building façade (e.g. murals)
  • Cleaning and repairs of tiled sections of the facade

• Maintenance and repainting of balconies

• Cleaning and painting of windows, sills, and frames

Your opinion on the types of enhancements and mural designs is important. Do you have any further ideas or want to comment on the proposed enhancement types above, please see the timeline at the bottom of the page for details on how to share your thoughts at each project stage.

Read through the Phases below for some more information. This page will be updated as the project progresses.

October 17, 2023 11:00 PM - May 20, 2024 11:00 PM

After hearing your thoughts and the preferred option by the local communities, the design team will revise the preferred option proposals to create a revised design for the library, community centre, and station entrance by working on spatially coordinated design and technical designs through internal review processes. This period also includes preparations for the advertising consent for the library facade.

The design team will produce images of the final design that we will share here. The date of the final design workshop to review these designs will be confirmed at the next stage.
