Suhel P1 year ago Our project, Pedal Academy: Wheels for All, aims to provide local children with the opportunity to engage in cycling as a healthy, active lifestyle choice, particularly for those who might not have access to bikes due to financial or other barriers. With the newly landscaped stretch of North Woolwich Road offering a safe and accessible route, we plan to provide a fleet of bikes for local kids, namely students at Royal Wharf Primary whom I hope to partner up with in the Beckton and Royal Docks area, offering them the chance to experience cycling in a supportive and structured environment.Working with British Cycling qualified team of local coaches from under represented backgrounds, we will offer cycling training to young kids and students, helping them develop their skills, confidence, and fitness. This initiative will not only promote physical health but will also support mental wellbeing by encouraging outdoor activity and fostering a sense of achievement and community.By providing bikes and coaching and basic lessons of bike maintenance, we aim to break down barriers to participation and ensure that every child, regardless of their financial background, has the opportunity to experience the many benefits of cycling. Our project will inspire a new generation of young cyclists, helping them build lifelong habits for better health and wellbeing.Additionally, by making use of the newly designed local roads, our project aligns with the broader vision of transforming Beckton and Royal Docks into more active, sustainable, and connected communities. Through this initiative, we aim to create a lasting impact on both the individual children involved and the wider community.
