Key Stakeholder Working Group

The Council would like the local residents and businesses to actively contribute and engage with us as the study progresses. . We understand that some stakeholders will be particularly interested by this project, especially our residents who live in the Hamara Ghar, the Queens Market traders and retailers, and those who live in the surrounding streets.

To help do this, we have set up a key stakeholder working group to work alongside the Council and the consultant team to advise us on matters that are particularly important to these groups over the next 10 months.

Role and Purpose

The role of the Key Stakeholder Working Group is to:

  • work with the Council and consultancy team as the study progresses
  • ask questions and seek information on behalf of their stakeholder group
  • advise on important matters and issues that reflect the concerns of the stakeholder group they represent

Key Principles

The working group will be governed by three main principles:

  • the working group aims to represent and reflect a cross-section of stakeholder opinions, to ensure there is a broad range of views in discussions on the two priority options
  • working group members will identify opportunities to ensure all stakeholder groups have access to clear information
  • working group members will advise the Council and the consultancy team on how to best engage with their respective key stakeholder group

Working group members will be supported by the Council and the consultancy team as the study progresses. The working group is an essential advisory group to the Council and the consultancy team. It is not a decision making group. Any final decisions will remain with the Council in accordance with our statutory responsibility.

The Council recognises that there will need to be a series of detailed discussions with each stakeholder group outside of the main working group meetings. In order to help with this, the Queen’s Market Information Hub was set up at the end of April 2022. This will allow residents, traders, businesses and the wider community to meet with the Council as the study progresses. If required, individual meetings will also be set up with stakeholder groups to listen to and discuss any particular issues and aspirations affecting a particular group.
