How can residents get involved: the custom house steering group and social value opportunities

January 7, 2022 - January 9, 2022

What is the Custom House Steering Group?

The Custom House Steering Group is made up of community representatives and staff from the Custom House Regeneration Team. They meet to discuss and shape the regeneration of Custom House, championing the co-production commitment made by Newham Council. Community representatives have been ensuring that residents’ voices are heard and listened to regarding both the designs and the landlord offer, so that regeneration really benefits the local community.

The Steering Group has also made sure that there have been plenty of opportunities for the whole community to get involved and have their say.

How can I become a member of the Steering Group?

We’re actively seeking Steering Group representatives and those who live in or have the right to return to the Phase One area.

If you’re interested in joining, please contact your independent tenants’ and residents’ advisors, NewmanFrancis:

Will there be job opportunities for residents?

We will set local employment targets for any organisations, contractors and sub-contractors working on the regeneration.

They will be required to promote job opportunities through Our Newham Work, which is the Council’s training, jobs brokerage and business support service for local people and local businesses.

The new shops, nursery and health centre will also provide opportunities.
