Phases
Private renters
The Council will reimburse your removal cost and other reasonable costs connected with moving. These are set out in the Residents’ Charter and include:
■ Removal and storage costs (these will be paid by the Council if it is using its own contractor).
■ Disconnection and reconnection of cooker.
■ Disconnection and reconnection of phone lines.
The Council’s independent tenants’ and residents’ advisors (NewmanFrancis) can help provide information and support for private renters affected by the masterplan proposals to regenerate Custom House. This includes support finding alternative private rented accommodation or signposting towards intermediate housing options such as shared ownership which, depending on circumstances, may be an option for some private renters.
Private Sector Solutions Homelessness Prevention & Advice Service works with households to prevent them becoming homeless or to move to alternative accommodation.
