People Powered Places Youth Advisory Board
People Powered Places is Newham Council’s flagship participatory budgeting programme.
Participatory budgeting means giving residents across Newham the say in how local funds are spent.
The programme has been running since 2018, funding over 300 local projects. It is one of the largest participatory budgeting programmes in the UK.
Starting in 2025, we have £1.6million to give to local projects. Young people, residents and organisations can apply for funding and residents vote on which projects will receive funds. People Powered Places runs for two years.
For the first time ever, each neighbourhood will have £50,000 available for youth-led projects – a total of £400,000 across Newham.
The Youth Advisory Board, delivered in partnership with the Youth Empowerment Team, will ensure People Powered Places is a youth-friendly programme with children and young people feeling empowered to make decisions about where they live.
