Farha Naaz3 years ago Stitching for Wellbeing is a community initiative designed to enhance the quality of life in our neighbourhood. This project empowers residents to acquire essential sewing and clothing repair skills, fostering self-sufficiency and personal growth.Our primary focus is on improving mental health and well-being. We aim to provide residents with a therapeutic outlet through creative stitching activities, relieving stress, anxiety, and depression. By teaching residents how to repair their own clothes, we encourage a sustainable lifestyle that reduces waste and promotes resource conservation.Through a series of workshops, sessions, and community events, we plan to actively engage residents. We will assess the project's impact by conducting surveys and gathering feedback to measure changes in participants' sewing skills, mental well-being, and overall satisfaction.Ultimately, Stitching for Wellbeing, seeks to create a stronger, more resilient, and happier community by nurturing individual growth, fostering a sense of belonging, and promoting a sustainable way of living that benefits both residents and the environment.

Rizwan Abhi3 years ago ** Celebrate the Festival of Walking with us in the Peak District **This idea is to organise and deliver a series of community trips to sites across the UK for the purpose of hiking and mountaineering. The aspect of travelling together and sharing this experience appeals to me as I've met some really good friends whilst being amazed at the natural beauty of our National Parks. The trips will be subsidised to include the cost of the coach hire, basic refreshments, and any additional costs. This grant will ensure people from all backgrounds can attend without spending too much money. The idea is to get a good mix of people from different backgrounds and ages to connect and network whilst learning about the outdoors, environmental issues such as climate change and clean air, and the importance of a strong interconnected community to improve safety and build trust. There will be fun workshops, masterclasses and inputs on a variety of subjects with the goal of upskilling and uplifting participants.

Newham Co-Create Admin 3 years ago It is a fine arts course/sessions focusing on paintings, drawings including digital paintings. The participants will be introduced to artists' movement and learn how to critically analyse art works. It will be 10 sessions of workshops to learn arts, history and culture of Newham. The activities for the 10 days will include; 1 day of lecture, 2 days educational trips (gallery and museums, civic buildings and other landmarks in the area) 4 days workshop, 2 days exhibit and 1 day celebration and recognition This project will boost the confidence and independence of our youth. It will also give them freedom for individual creativeness which is the emphasis throughout the project. The course will encourage positive mindset and will provide good social context, connectivity to other youth members in the areaa recognition day for the 20 participants will be held and will select 3 top works will be awarded. all 3 best selected artworks will be submitted for consideration to the Royal Academy of Arts for the Summer Exhibition 2025.

Newham Co-Create Admin 3 years ago Project aims to provide women and girls a safe space, self-defense classes, workshops and training. To devlop their self resilience and confidence to protect themselves and others from harm.Providing them with a safe and secure environment to learn, educate and engage in positive activities. As well as be positive role model and ambassadors of the local area and Newham.Personal safety and dignity for Women and Girls is really important to us. This project is targeted at any women who are deemed at risk or vulnerable, or may be experiencing emotional or physical abuse at home, feeling unsafe on the streets, on public transport or at their work place.We will hold an end of year community safety event and bring all our partners and stakeholders and local authority agencies to raise awareness and celebrate our rich pool of resources and support services for women and girls.

Newham Co-Create Admin 3 years ago There are four elements in our project.- Advice, information on welfare benefits and form filling service - for 12 months 7 hours a week- Bollywood dancing - 18 weeks for one hour per week - Self - defence classes - 14 weeks for one hour per week- crochet - 24 weeks 1 hour per weekThe purpose is to help local community and to provide accessible services that they are entitled to.In a safe and friendly environment. Especially with cost of living crises, which is promoting heath inequities and having substantial impact on peoples mental and physical health. The purpose is to tackle poverty by providing a service that will maximising their income. Also to reduce isolation improve their health and wellbeing. To educate women how defend their self in case any incident occur. The women can feel safe to go out without any fear of attack at any time of the day or evening. All these four element will promote community participant, so they can feel sense of belonging within the wider community. To support the community with cost of living crises.

It will act as a Befriending service for friends and neighbours of Newham2. Provide additional exercise classes - Yoga (1 hour per week)3. Various Social trips and outings4. Healthy lifestyle workshops (1 per month)

Whilst primarily focusing on the local priority of youth empowerment, we will also address mental health, wellbeing, and community safety.Our comprehensive and intense program will engage participants aged 13 to 18 in various activities, including educational workshops, community service engagement, fun youth activity days, opportunities for youth leadership, communication, and digital development, along with other workshops. These activities and workshops are carefully designed to instil essential life skills, enhance mental resilience, and foster a sense of belonging among young residents, ensuring they have the tools to navigate life’s challenges successfully. As part of our dedication to community wellbeing, we prioritise the mental health of our staff, participants, and the community.With ongoing evaluation and planning for long-term sustainability, our project aims to make a lasting impact, creating a safer, more engaged, and more vibrant Green Street neighbourhood for all residents. Through collaboration, empowerment, and community engagement, we aspire to create lasting positive changes, elevating the quality of life in the community and contributing to the betterment of the community and the lives of its residents.

Hope 4 Humanity3 years ago Hope 4 Humanity is an organisation that has been in operation since 2020 in the Borough of Newham. We run a food bank there as well as we have been running several successful projects over the course of this time. The project that we are proposing to do is called the "Women's and Youth Empowerment Project" which will be holistic, dynamic and efficient. It will involve 40 youths and 40 women in the Neighbourhood of Green Street. Activities will be tailored to meet the needs of these two groups of people. We will ensure that young people have the ability and skill to excel, regardless of their background and circumstances. Our project will also ensure that the 40 women specified, will get the opportunity to improve their health and well-being, as well as the young people. .Women will get the chance to participate in robust activities tailored to meet their needs. We will teach the young people about app making and give them training in media and the logistics around this area. Although young people know about social media platforms, they sometimes lack the knowledge of how to use and apply it properly and to their advantage. We intend to change this by providing the appropriate training in Digital Media, which will build upon their confidence, and boost their self-esteem. In doing so young people can begin to believe that they too can be on radio or television as well as they can start lucrative YouTube businesses etc., which will benefit themselves and their neighborhood. Kickboxing will also be one of the activities that young people will be given training in. Secondly, the 40 women involved will participate in a catalogue of activities that will be uplifting and satisfying. They will have dance lessons as well as women will get lessons in acting and in self-defence. We want women to learn how to protect themselves and to be safe and feel safe in their community. We will have a health cafe, where women will be given health information and advice as needed. Outside professionals as well as our staff will facilitate most of the sessions.. We will work from the SMART project model, which means that our goals will be specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time-bound. Young people will be enabled to become future ambassadors and entrepreneurs in their community and there will be a combination of health benefits for women and mental stability

Rozina Iqbal3 years ago The Green Street ‘Imra'a - Here I Stand & Here I Stay: Empowering Green Street's Safety’ Project is a comprehensive community-driven initiative aimed at enhancing safety, wellbeing, and community cohesion in the Green Street neighbourhood. Focused on addressing the pressing issues of violence and sexual offences, this project leverages a multifaceted approach to create a safer, more vibrant community.Key components include place-based prevention, early intervention strategies, and active engagement with residents, businesses, and community leaders. By proactively tackling the root causes of crime and fostering a sense of shared responsibility, we aim to reduce the incidence of violence and create a more secure neighbourhood.Our project promotes community involvement through volunteer programs, neighbourhood patrols, and safety workshops, empowering residents to contribute to their safety actively. Additionally, we emphasise education and awareness to equip community members with the knowledge and tools to protect themselves and their neighbours.The Green Street Community Safety Project is committed to measuring its impact through engagement metrics, crime statistics, surveys, and ongoing community feedback. This initiative seeks to transform Green Street into a thriving, secure, and tightly knit neighbourhood that residents are proud to call home by creating a safe haven for its residents.Watch the video below for an update on the project

Mohammad Shamsur Rahman3 years ago At Magic Care Moments Club, our aim is to provide specialist out-of-school sessions for children with learning disabilities and /or autism. We understand that traditional schooling may not fulfil the requirements for children who lack the right support and care. Our commitment to providing safe, caring, engaging and meaningful activity sessions for children that will enable them to develop friendships, and new skills and help with their well-being. We formed partnership with local public library and use their resources as our activity venue. All our teachers are qualified and have experience of providing activities for the children. All our teachers, volunteers are DBS checked. We offer music therapy, Art therapy, Dance Class and tie-dye sessions. There are many more to come. Jobrul Islam3 years ago The aim of this project is to turn and uplift the Katherine Road Community Centre garden, make it more colourful, artistic, friendly and attractive for users and visitors. It will help the centre to generate additional revenue via hire.We anticipate that this community space will see an increase in social engagement, community cohesion and have a positive impact on the physical and mental health of our community.
