People Powered Places Launch

March 29, 2023 - April 27, 2023

On Thursday 27 April, over 300 residents joined the launch event of People Powered Places, Newham's flagship participatory budgeting programme.

The Mayor Rokhsana Fiaz OBE, Newham’s Interim Chief Executive Colin Ansell, Councillors and other leaders celebrated all the achievements from the last two years of People Powered Places (previously Community Assemblies) with residents. Voices through the wind, Willow and Young Talent all came on stage to perform.

Mayor Rokhsana Fiaz OBE said we want all residents in Newham to feel empowered by having the largest and best, pioneering participatory budgeting programme in the country.

Residents and local organisations also had stalls showcasing the projects they have delivered with the funding from People Powered Places and a map of Newham showcased all the projects funded over the past two years.

One resident said: "Really lovely evening. Great to see Newham leading the way in involving the community in decisions".
