Parking and Kerbside Space Review

The Council are completing a Parking and Kerbside Space review. Newham's streets serve many different needs, including parking, walking, cycling, deliveries, public transport, accessibility, green infrastructure and community activities. We want to understand how kerbside space is currently being used and how it can best meet the needs of residents, businesses and visitors now and in the future.

Share your experiences, tell us what works well, and let us know where improvements could be made using the survey and the map below.

You can also email us if you have any further feedback on the following email address:

Why are we reviewing parking and kerbside space?

Kerbside space is a valuable and limited public asset. As travel habits, housing needs, business activity and environmental priorities continue to evolve, we want to ensure our streets are working effectively for everyone.

This review will help us better understand:

  • How residents, businesses and visitors use parking and kerbside space.
  • Areas where parking demand is high or where current arrangements could be improved.
  • The needs of disabled residents, carers and other groups who rely on access to parking.
  • Opportunities to support safer streets, sustainable travel, loading and servicing, greening, and community priorities.
  • Local challenges and ideas that may not be reflected in existing data.

Who can take part?

We welcome feedback from anyone who lives, works, studies, visits or runs a business in Newham. Whether you drive, walk, cycle, use public transport, receive deliveries or require accessible parking, your experience matters.

How will your feedback be used?

Your feedback will be combined with technical assessments, parking data, traffic information and other evidence gathered by the Council.

The information collected through this engagement will help us:

  • Identify local priorities and concerns.
  • Understand how parking and kerbside space is used across different neighbourhoods.
  • Develop future parking and kerbside policies, strategies and potential improvements.
  • Inform future projects and investment decisions.

A summary of what we hear and the key findings will be published on Newham Co-Create once the engagement has closed.

September 17, 2026 11:00 PM - December 17, 2026 11:59 PM

This phase focuses on understanding how parking currently works across the borough and identifying the issues that matter most to residents, businesses and visitors. Information will be gathered through parking stress surveys, resident questionnaires, mapping exercises, engagement events, requests for secure cycle storage, demand for electric vehicle charging, flood risk mapping. and feedback from businesses and community groups. The aim is to build a comprehensive picture of parking demand, travel habits and local priorities before any options are developed.
