Football Foundation funding for PlayZones

The Football Foundation's PlayZone programme plans to create 330 Playzones across the UK as part of a £92m investment by the end of 2025.

London Borough of Newham have been accepted into this programme and now has the opportunity to apply for up to 75% funding for new or refurbished multi-use games areas in six locations across the borough.

Across 2023-24, the Council are engaging with local communities to:

  • Collect evidence of local need to inform the next stage of the project.
  • Identify which sports would benefit each neighbourhood.
  • Ensure any new facilities will be accessible and welcoming to everyone.

The Football Foundation’s PlayZone application requires us to show significant interest from groups/ organisations, as well as individuals, as part of securing the funding.

Our intention is to have regular bookings at the PlayZones alongside some open and facilitated sessions.

If you are a group/organisation that might be interested in booking the PlayZones on a regular basis, please complete the 5-minute survey on the next slide.

Please note: you are not committing to use the space, it is indicative information for the project and the Football Foundation application. There is an opportunity to leave your contacts details at the end of the survey so that we can get in touch with any interested parties.

If you represent a group/ organisation that would be interested in booking the PlayZone, please Take the Survey linked above.
