Beckton Parks Masterplan

Co-designing a Sustainable Future for our Green Spaces.

Newham Council are working with residents and community stakeholders to create a future vision for the Beckton Parks Masterplan area.

The area covers 2 council wards: Beckton and Custom House. It includes the largest amount of local authority managed green space in the borough and a variety of leisure and community facilities situated within Beckton District Park (North and South), New Beckton Park, Beckton Corridor, Newham City Farm Site and King George V Park:

The landscape offers enormous potential to create new and improved sports, leisure, wildlife and community led opportunities through improving existing spaces and facilities and re-purposing areas to better meet local needs.

We are planning a variety of ways for you to get involved in co-designing this exciting masterplan over the coming months. Engagement opportunities and events will be advertised throughout the project phases below.

Co-design workshops

East Architecture will be hosting a series of co-design workshops intended to develop ideas submitted by local stakeholders during previous stages of engagement and featured in the Community Vision available to download below.

The workshops will be split across four areas of Beckton Parks and will take place on Saturday 26 November and Saturday 3 December at Beckton Globe Library.

These workshops will feature a selection of engaging activities to help shape the architectural plans and drawings for the Beckton Parks Masterplan.

Children are welcome and refreshments will be provided. 

Each session will be organised in two parts :

·       The hour prior to the workshop: drop-in discussions and review of Beckton Parks Masterplan drawings and plans up-to-date with East Architecture’s team. 

·       Second hour and a half: short presentation by the design team and co-design workshop sessions in smaller groups *Please sign up for these workshops via Eventbrite.

See map and dates below to understand which workshop will addresses each area included in the Beckton Parks Masterplan - it is possible to attend more than one:

  1. Saturday 26 November: 11.00 - 12.30 - which will be concentrating on Area 1: the lake and the surrounding park 
  2. Saturday 26 November: 15.00 - 16.30 - which will be concentrating on Area 4: the sports fields and New Beckton Park
  3. Saturday 3 December: 11.00 - 12.30 - which will be concentrating on Area 2: the woodlands and Beckton Corridor
  4. Saturday 3 December: 15.00 - 16.30 - which will be concentrating on Area 3: King George V Park and the Newham City Farm site
