Beckton Parks Sports and Leisure Hub
The Beckton Parks Masterplan is one of London’s most ambitious urban green space projects that sets out a vision for investment and improvement in 36 hectares of Newham parkland to support wellbeing and community activity.
The Masterplan was co-designed with local residents and community groups over 2022-2023 through workshops, drop-ins, conversations and on-site activities. Newham Cabinet adopted the Beckton Parks Masterplan in January 2024. Since then a number of projects have already been completed to improve areas of the parks and others are underway:

Beckton Parks Sports and Leisure Hub
Newham's Parks service have recently secured some funds to deliver the first elements of the new Beckton Parks Sports and Leisure Hub outside Will Thorne Pavilion in 2025.
As set out in the masterplan, designs for the Sports and Leisure Hub will include new urban play MUGA, informal sports and recreation areas and a new lit pathway with seating.
East Architecture, who drew up the Masterplan, are currently working for Newham to progress the designs to make best use of available funds and to address community priorities around safer routes and improved Sports, Play and Leisure facilities.
We started this project by using the Beckton Parks Masterplan designs and gathering initial feedback from residents whose homes overlook this area. The designs have evolved in response to the feedback gathered and to enable successful phased delivery of all elements over time.
The designs presented here were also displayed at a recent drop in consultation event at Beckton Globe Library. Your feedback will be combined with opinions gathered at that event and through previous engagement and door knocking exercises to inform the final designs.
