Green Street Workspace
The project
A Workspace provision will be located in a vacant unit on Green Street, directly facing Queen's Square, and delivered as part of the Green Street Community Hub. It will provide opportunities for businesses and residents from Newham to establish themselves in the heart of Green Street and will help to provide more job and training opportunities.
Information about operating model for the workspace will be advertised in due course.
Unfortunately, our initial ambition for a meanwhile standalone workspace on Rochester Avenue could not be delivered. Following a competitive tender process and return of bids, it has been assessed that the delivery of proposed workspace on the elevated car park is not financially viable. Therefore, the project has been re-scoped to instead deliver a smaller workspace provision as part of the Community Hub works.
Phases
Grant Agreement
A report will be presented to the Mayor and Cabinet on 8th September 2020 recommending that the Council should enter into the grant agreement with the GLA. This will also recommend the approval of £2.1 million of match funding from the Council to support the delivery of the four projects. Subject to approval by the Mayor and Cabinet the Grant Agreement with the Mayor of London will be finalised on or around 21st September.
