Junction Woodgrange Rd/Upton Lane

Arnold Ridout•4 years ago Get rid of "sheep pens" and make a single stage crossing with diagonals - along the lines of the junction with Station RD/High Street North. If necessary use part of wide pavement for cycle provision.

Junction Station Rd/High Street North

Arnold Ridout•4 years ago This junction works reasonably well for pedestians but would benefit from indication that diagonal crossings are possible.

Junction with Rabbits Rd

Arnold Ridout•4 years ago If westbound right turn into Rabbits Rd is to be preserved then use part of wide pavement for cycle provision.

Romford Rd to be single lane for motor traffic.

Arnold Ridout•3 years ago Between Manor Park and Ilford, Romford Rd should be single lane and merging of traffic causes hold ups. the only exception should be an eastbound right turn into Rabbits Rd.

Little Ilford low Traffic Neighbourhood

Arnold Ridout•3 years ago Make Little Ilford a low traffic neighbourhood to improve its environment and allow closure of side roads on Romford Rd.

Allow right turn into High Street north from Romford Rd eastbound

Arnold Ridout•3 years ago Adda right turn lane on Romford Rd eastbound and a lane for traffic going forward and turning into Station Rd. Stop rat running down Salisbury Rd . There is room on pavement for cycle track.

One lane westbound from Ilford Hill

Arnold Ridout•3 years ago Cut down the ridiculous number of lanes which causes traffic build up from poor driving.

Enforcement of traffic and parking rules

Arnold Ridout•5 years ago Illegal parking (especially pavement parking and pavement encroachment) and speeding are rife in Manor Park. The effect is to make the area feel threatening and to discourage walking and cycling. It sends the strong message that motor vehicles are more important than residents. Also the illegal parking on through routes significantly increases the congestion. Because illegal parking and speeding is so rife enforcement would pay for itself.

Low Traffic Neighbourhoods

Arnold Ridout•5 years ago Low Traffic neighbourhoods are areas without through traffic, but accessbile by residents. Rat running is a bane of Manor Park. Its configuration of streets are very amenable to low traffic neighbourhood schemes which will reduce air pollution, make a pleasanter environment and encourage healthy active travel. the low traffic neighbourhoods recently set up in Stratford and Forest Gate are already having a benefical effect.

Enforcement

Arnold Ridout•5 years ago The combination of antisocial behaviour, littering and illegal parking gives Manor Park a hostile environment. A start would be to enforce rules which are designed to make the area better for residents. A crackdown on illegal parking would give pay for itself and give pedestrians a better chance to use the pavements and help move traffic along. Enforcement of speed limits would also help remove the threatening atmosphere of the area.
