Cars parked in Westbound lane

B L•4 years ago Cars park all along this section of road blocking the single Westbound lane. It forces the Westbound traffic to drive the opposite direction and creates a very dangerous environment for pedestrians and cyclists. The congestion slows buses too.

Right turn lane to Ilford Hill

B L•4 years ago This is a single lane but cars treat is as two - forcing past each other and making it more dangerous. its evidence that far too much road space is given to cars vs other road users.

Terrible junction design

B L•4 years ago This junction design is awful for pedestrians and cyclists. There is no easy route N/S or E/W and even harder to make a right turn. It should be redesigned to prioritise pedestrians and cyclists, remove the barriers and slow the traffic.

Speeding cars

B L•4 years ago There is a long run from Hampton Road to Balmoral Road where cars speed. There is a zebra crossing mid-way down which puts pedestrians at high risk.There is room here for a bi-directional cycle lane to narrow the lanes and slow traffic.

Congestion

B L•4 years ago Always congestion here as cars merge lanes. When bus lanes are not active cars speed up the left hand side and force past cyclists. 24 hour bus lanes and a single traffic lane would aid flow.

Inadequate road crossings

B L•4 years ago It's really, really hard to cross Woodgrange Road on foot. There's two crossings that take ages to turn red, and then give people about 15 seconds to cross.From Romford Road to the flats is dicing with death every time. Any Romford Road junction changes to support better pedestrian experience on Woodgrange too.

I'd never cycle from Manor Park to Ilford

B L•4 years ago I've been cycling in London near-daily for 10 years and I actively avoid Romford Road. It's awful for cycling and downright dangerous. A huge shame as its such a direct route for pedestrians, buses and cyclists.

Google Maps gives 3 options

B L•3 years ago I noticed driving home to the Woodgrange Estate down Center Road today that google maps was giving me three options to get home. Down Capel Road (by default given to all) Down Serbert road Down Hampton Road All three are Similar ETA. So really, if options 1 and 2 were closed by this LTN I can't really see what the fuss is about.I went the Hampton Road way to try it out and it was 100% fine. It was the same time as I wasn't getting held up on Tylney Road by cars coming the other way. This was a busy Sunday afternoon and it was fine! I genuinely can't understand how people are going on about their rights being infringed?

Congestion is caused by other car drivers

B L•3 years ago Here's a typical scene on this stretch of Woodgrange Road. A car is parked ON the pavement blocking pedestrians and then another car pulled up alongside and put its hazards on to go shopping.This held up the white van and about 5 other cars until it could overtake. More work has to be done to make Woodgrange Road flow more freely and discourage parking like this. There were empty parking bays opposite the Pharmacy so it's just laziness. Once the LTN is put in there will be countless photos of traffic on Woodgrange Road when the reality is it was there all along and caused by people like this.

ASB Issues could be solved by removing parking spaces

B L•3 years ago There's a huge amount of rubbish dumped here by people eating in their cars at night and doing balloons etc. It's a quiet spot off the high street and in the morning there are entire dumped bags of takeaway, cans and food waste that have been dumped out of windows/doors.It's also a key walking route for pedestrians and the ASB/waste makes it an unpleasant place to beAs no houses face onto this piece of road I would remove the parking spaces entirely to improve the environment for pedestrians.Screenshot from love Clean Streets app shows volume of reports.

An observation

B L•4 years ago I was walking around the estate this lunchtime and noticed some anti-LTN posters on this section of Windsor road. It struck me as ironic as they are actually already living in a mini LTN and have benefited from it for years.With the Hampton Road one way filter already in place. And Richmond Road no-entry at the other end AND no access to Woodgrange Road… there is no reason for anyone to drive down their road. No wonder they seem to think there isn't an issue with through traffic. If only they see through some of the other residents eyes.

Always feels a bit dodgy

B L•4 years ago This bit of Sebert road always feels a little bit dark and intimidating. The cars parked everywhere doesn't help - twinned with speeding cars flying round the corner. It'd be great to see it fully transformed with a copenhagen style crossing, planting and seating etc (with bollards!)

Priority modal filter

B L•4 years ago This is a key route for children and parents to travel to school on foot, scooter and bicycle and is currently marred by cut through traffic, speeding and aggressive drivers. I really feel for the residents of Tylney Road when I walk up to the flats with my morning coffee. I can't wait to see it closed.

Copenhagen roundabouts

B L•4 years ago Would be lovely to see these iconic roundabouts paved as pedestrian priority spaces with increased planting and more direct crossing paths. They're dangerous at the moment which the LTN will help with - but a huge opportunity to do something special with them .

Mitigate flooding through new garden spaces

B L•4 years ago This Woodgrage estate seems to have a minimal amount of drainage and frequently floods. It'd be amazing to see some SUDS and Rain gardens built out into the road to improve visual amenity and slow traffic (a modern and long term addition to the conservation area)

Speeding cars

B L•4 years ago Cars speed down this section of Osborne road when using it as a cut through (as do residents to be honest) The LTN will significantly reduce the amount of noise and danger to local residents.

Finally and end to the blaring horns

B L•4 years ago I live about 50 meters along the road from this roundabout. Many times a day we are subjected to the sound of horns blaring as frantic rat running cars cut each other off. It should be a quiet, peaceful residential area and instead. I can hear them whilst sat in my study and/or in the garden and it ruins the peace.

Improve the flow of traffic

B L•4 years ago In addition to the LTN you should narrow Woodgrange Road and make it more of a shared space. This will slow, and improve the flow of traffic. It's important it doesn't get relegated to 'boundary road' status long term as its an A road.

Better lighting and pavements needed

B L•4 years ago It'd be amazing to see Hampton, Osborne and Clarement given pedestrian priority by creating blended Copenhagen crossings. This would reduce pavement parking, ASB (the tree by giovannas is used to utinate against) and transform the feel of the high street. It would also discourage traffic turning down (and then realising the other end is closed by a modal filter)

More enforcement needed here

B L•4 years ago I support the LTN - in addition we need to see more enforcement for speeding, red light jumping and pavement parking etc on Woodgrange Road. Whilst its a boundary road, its also a key multi-modal transport link.I find it unacceptable that the two pelican crossings on our high street take 15-30 seconds to change for pedestrians. At night when a crossrail train arrives its downright dangerous for people crossing - especially when the car-drivers are aggressive.
