kaaren cruse5 years ago This proposal is to support and enable local families to enhance their physical and mental wellbeing, feel connected, and contribute to a cleaner, local, safer environment.Based on a PERMA, wellbeing model it allows families to have fun exercising together in a green space, and make connections through the telling of local stories and linking to the natural environment via the use of a cycling, discovery kit.This kit contains local cycle maps (incorporating The Queen Elizabeth Olympic and West Ham parks), with highlighted, stop off, discovery points, an audio guide (for activation at the discovery points), guidance sheet and children’s activity book. All the resources can be downloadable from online, as well as having printed versions available from local libraries. The maps could also be used for families to exercise together via walking and discovering.In addition, by following the discovery, cycle map, it is hoped that more people will gain confidence and feel enabled to travel by bike, thereby enhancing the development of lower traffic neighbourhoods, leading to cleaner streets. As well as helping families feel more connected and motivated to make greater use of the local space, making it feel safer for all to enjoy.
