My name is Grace, I am a Newham girl, I've worked in Newham schools and now run a cake business in Newham. I have a huge passion for kids which is why I would love to bring this to expertise of teaching and cakes to help young people develope confidence and teach them skills that will stay with them forever.

Grace Kenneth-Jimah1 year ago Project Brief: EduCaketion CIC – Afterschool Baking ClubWe are excited to launch an Afterschool Baking Club in Newham that combines fun, creativity, and life skills for children and young people. The club will run weekly during term-time between March 2026 and February 2027 and will be open to all local children, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN).Through baking, children will learn practical skills such as measuring, following instructions, and kitchen safety, while also developing confidence, teamwork, and creativity. Each session will give children the chance to make something they can proudly take home and share with their families.The project will: Provide an inclusive, safe, and supportive space for over 100 children across Newham. Offer adapted equipment and one-to-one support so that SEN children can fully participate. Involve parents, volunteers, and young people as peer mentors, strengthening community connections. End with a family celebration and recipe booklet, showcasing what the children have achieved. We believe this project will make Newham a better place to live by supporting young people, promoting wellbeing, and building stronger family and community bonds.

Grace Kenneth-Jimah5 years ago It's devasting seeing the amount of our young people we are loosing to crime, violence, , going missing, mental health breakdown. The lockdown has really pushed numbers up.Our young people spend a majority of their time in school/education and there's only so much the education system and teachers can do. I was a teacher for 8 years I know the pressure and strain that they carry in trying to make sure the students get the grades.Our project is after school club - where children are thought practical life skills, to build there confidence and mental health,where there's no pressure to attain a certain level or grade, but just build themselves as individuals.I already help in one of my local school, but with funding, we can offer more schools, and so many more children this opportunity and learn a skill that they will not learn in a classroom.The picture attached is just 1 of the bakes that a group of year 4 students made, the sense of achievement when they make these things is life changing.
