I am Paizah Malek-Neave, living in Plaistow since 2013, member of Conflict & Change East Ham, EKTA, Act Up Newham and Rotary Club of Newham since 2005. I joined Together 2012 and started Smart Group in 2015.

I run the weekly Smart Project group activities at Jeyes Centre, James Close, E13 8BB every Thursday at 12.00 - 2.30pm. We are now at Plaistow Community Centre, 63 Queens Road West, E13 0PE

I was a teacher and lecturer in Special Needs Education before working with Youth Justice Board as Volunteering Recruitment Officer at Youth Offending Team, Barking and Dagenham.

My last job was Manager of Fair Care Ltd, recruiting and training carers for elderly and disabled people.

I received Community Builder Certificates twice from London Mayor of Newham.

Currently I am acting with Newham Act Up. training Carers and Governance to voluntary and community groups.

Paizah Malek-Neave4 years ago Green Street Community Awareness Project – (GS CAP) is a partnership project by Act Up Newham and Riz Entertainment Academy, filling the criteria of CIL funding body and local priorities:- Community safety, Development of health and wellbeing and full usage of Priory Park as Community space for relaxation and entertainment in Green Street Area, from October, 2022. Act Up Newham is local group of disabled artists and Riz Entertainment Academy is voluntary group of musicians providing free services to disadvantage residents. Both groups aim at creating awareness among the spectators; in reducing crime, anti-social behaviour and encouraging them to stay safe, healthy and happy.They are amateur entertainers in stage drama and musical entertainments with DBS checks and practising Equal Opportunities Policies, Equality and Diversity and Safe Guarding Policy.During the six months project delivery cycle, GS CAP will visit three Primary schools, two Secondary schools and three Community Centres to set up drama workshops and activities for budding talents, benefiting 90 Primary School children, 60 Secondary school students and 120 Community Centre users @ £19,500. This project will continue to serve Green Street Community beyond the time framed to ensure value for money, Community participation to meet their artistic goal in life, through sketches, drama workshops and public performances during the grand celebrations at the end of the cycle.

Paizah Malek-Neave4 years ago Go Digital by Smart Project is meeting Plaistow Assembly Priority 2 – Community Safety, reducing criminal activities, combatting anti-social behaviour and ensuring safe spaces.Go Digital enables 60 disadvantaged residents of Plaistow North, South and West including Canning Town, to be digitally educated by 2030. This Project aims at making them master of digital equipment.Digital knowledge and experience benefited them to connect with outside world news, local crime incidents, warnings from Public, and instant, spontaneous contacts with next of kin, ability to communicate better and faster with 999, helps to save life, loneliness and fright.Social Media enables sharing emotions, requesting information on Welfare Rights, Sale and offers, job opportunities and ordering daily requirements. Go Digital Project ensures safety, things delivered at door steps by ordering online, banking online, make medical appointments and prescription, chatting online with away happily, saves time, money and energy.Disadvantaged residents need individually-tailored learning programme due to unhealthy background, poor education, language barrier and serious emotional disturbance. Go Digital Project will provide one to one teaching by qualified IT Tutor, friendly support to ensure confidence and motivate interests in safe comfortable environment, 2 hours twice a week for 40 weeks with £5000 grant from CIL.

Paizah Malek-Neave5 years ago Project description – Smart Project designs activities for 30-40 Plaistow multicultural communities in recycling, indoor gardening and safety activities at local community Centre in Autumn and Winter 2021/22.Aims - to instil recycling habits, indoor gardening, observing Health and Safety Rules and Regulations, to build their confidence, develop artistic talents, make full use of their free time, activate their mind and body for better health and lifestyle. Long-term objectives - to encourage residents to be innovative in Recycling materials and turn into Income-generated activities. The process of learning, researching and creating beautiful products is beneficial to form habits of sharing knowledge, experience, team work and friendship among the participants.The products would promote publicity when exhibited at Social Inclusion and Community events, Libraries, stalls, Fairs and open markets. Outcome – the Products sale, would motivate them to be self-finance, dare into self-employment and venture into small business, benefiting their standard of living, raising Plaistow economic status and reducing unemployment figures.Participants of Smart Project would feel lighted up for having the knowledge to be safe in using tools, delicate, fragile materials or acidic items. They would feel useful and happy for the safely guided achievements in Recycling and Indoor gardening activities.
