YOUSUF PESHAVARIA1 year ago We are a group of local residents from Worland Road and Maiden Road who want to transform Airedale Walk (also known as Worland Road Alley) into a cleaner, safer, and more welcoming space for everyone.At present, the alley suffers from poor lighting, graffiti, litter, and serious hygiene problems such as public urination and defecation. This makes it unpleasant and unsafe, even though it is a main route used daily by families, commuters, and older residents.Our project will: Install AI-driven colour-changing 💡LED lighting that celebrates Newham’s diversity throughout the year, adapting to festivals such as Black History Month, Bonfire Night, Chinese New Year, Christmas, Diwali, Easter, Eid, Hanukkah, Halloween, Holi, Nowruz, Passover, Ramadan, St George’s Day, Thai Pongal, Vaisakhi, Windrush Day, and more — making the alley a living canvas of community pride. Commission a local artist to paint a “HOME” artwork at the entrance, creating pride and belonging. Fit two anti-urination trays in problem corners to improve hygiene. By tackling antisocial behaviour and adding creativity and light, we want to make the alley a place residents can feel proud of. This project will also serve as a framework for improving other alleys across Newham, showing how small changes can make a big difference.Please support us in making Stratford a safer, brighter, and more caring neighbourhood.
