jamie S3 years ago Having a Green route to West Ham Park would bring visitors and locals along tree lined streets from Forest Gate Station Station along Woodgrange Road, Upton Lane and south to West Ham Park. Trees help improve air quality by removing pollution annually including harmful PM10/PM2.5 particulates and NO2 roadside emissions as well as making our streets more beautiful and encouraging walking and cycling. Trees also create a vital habitat for London’s wildlife, reduce flood risk and help to tackle climate change through absorbing and storing carbon. In a 2020 study, the British Heart Foundation (BHF) ranked all UK areas by the average amount of tiny toxic particles (known as PM2.5) found in the air over one year. The World Health Organisation (WHO) says that any reading of PM2.5 above 10 exceeds its guidelines. Newham has an average annual PM2.5 reading of 13. Newham has the worst levels of air pollution in London and indeed the whole of the UK. We need more trees

jamie S3 years ago Under the new plans, it looks like the council are exploring a cycle route along Wyatt and Chaucer. I think this is a brilliant idea. A Green route to West Ham Park would bring visitors and locals along tree lined streets from Forest Gate Station Station along Woodgrange Road, Upton Lane, west through the already tree lined Chaucer road (saving the council money), south along Wyatt Road where walkers can take in the Old Spotted Dog, a Grade II listed public house that dates back to the late 15th century and was thought to once have been a hunting lodge for King Henry VIII. I would suggest putting a sign outside of here that marks the importance of the site.The route would continue south along Upton Lane and west along Ham Park Road before arriving at the main gates and entrance of West Ham Park.
