William Goodfellow5 years ago The track is in need of maintenance.It was laid down in 2012 &, since then, it seems to have been popular. Now that the exercise equipment has been reinstated, I expect it will be used more during the Summer.In some places, the top surface has worn off, exposing larger stones which give a bumpy surface. People jogging on the track could twist their ankle. So, the track should be resurfaced.Three people used to be able to walk abreast, but now it has become overgrown, which has narrowed its width to single file in places. I think that the track should be cleared back to its original width. No doubt, where the weeds are removed, the newly exposed surface of the track will also need maintenance.The timber trim around the track, which may have helped stop the weeds encroaching, & the timber distance markers along the track have rotted away. It would be nice if they are replaced.I suggest that the track should be put back to its original condition & that it should be properly maintained in the future.

William Goodfellow5 years ago The footpath from Frobisher Rd to Newling Close is a main route from public transport into this part of Beckton, so gives visitors a first impression. It is also a main route for residents to walk to the local shops, school, facilities, etc. I suggest that the footpath, together with the fenced areas both sides, should be replanned so it is easier to keep clean. The footpath should be made level &, preferably, widened a bit.The pathway has bushes both sides, in & under which rubbish accumulates. The path widens out at the entrance to the allotments & sometimes people loiter there by the tall bushes.I suggest that whole area could have a similar treatment to that given to Asda car park, which is clear & gives good visibility. Previously the car park had bushes around it &, when the bushes were removed, one could see the big build-up of rubbish, which encourages rats, etc.The path has become very uneven, which makes it difficult for people to use buggies or wheelchairs. So, it should be made level & safe for all.I accept that the path cannot be widened at the Newling Close end due to the houses on both sides. But I think that the main part of the route can be widened so that it is easier to walk past people, avoid cyclists, etc. & to make it feel safer. There would need to be a balance between a wide path & an area where people may congregate causing a nuisance, but the reinstatement of the CCTV could discourage undesirable usage. Some nice trees, that would not affect the lighting & CCTV, could be provided to encourage birds.Note: I hope that this suggestion can be considered. It seems to be partly outside this map, but is included on the Council map.

William Goodfellow5 years ago This building, together with the outside area, should be repaired. I suggest that it could be adapted to contain a refreshment area, with public toilets. The facilities would serve the park, tennis court, table tennis tables, the children's play area, the football pitches, with their spectators & the nearby Capital Ring & Jubilee Greenway, which are routes that attract people to the area.The red brick building, with its external tables & seating, adds character to the area but is currently in a state of disrepair & has tended to attract undesirable activities, causing people to avoid the area. The building seems large enough to contain a refreshment kiosk in addition to its existing uses. Having an occupied kiosk & attracting people to this area would improve people's feeling of safety, so it could become a place where people socialise. Toilets already exist, but probably need improvement & are generally closed.
