Inadequate or lack of cycle lanes

Martina Gabrielli•4 years ago Comment from "Newham Streets Survey - June 2020"romford road is terrible for cyclists, the pavements are very wide at points and could easily cater for cycle lanes6/13/20 11:23

Inadequate or lack of cycle lanes

Martina Gabrielli•4 years ago Comment from "Newham Streets Survey - June 2020"CS2 eastbound just stops and dumps cyclists into main carriageway on Romford Rd with extremely aggressive and intimidating drivers all around. This needs temporary but solid reinforced segregation all the way from Stratford, through Forest Gate east to the North Circular at Ilford. The road is massively wide enough the whole way to do this immediately. It should frankly have been done yearrs ago. This is the main route of TfL rail with 1000s of people needing to make this journey daily.6/11/20 21:43

Inadequate or lack of cycle lanes

Martina Gabrielli•4 years ago Comment from "Newham Streets Survey - June 2020"Terrifying road to ride a bike on but there is no alternative. Please add cycle lanes, even if temporary, to link up to excellent cycle lanes at Stratford high street.6/8/20 16:30

Inadequate or lack of cycle crossing

Martina Gabrielli•4 years ago Comment from "Newham Streets Survey - June 2020"This is a major junction and many cars use balmoral Road as a cut through to Forest Gate. Balmoral Road should be closed to all through traffic except bikes, and proper, safe segregation and lanes for bikes at this junction put in place. the current set up is dangerous.6/8/20 18:44

Inadequate or lack of cycle lanes

Martina Gabrielli•4 years ago Comment from "Newham Streets Survey - June 2020"Newham builds cycles lanes to and from nowhere (for example those around parts of Wanstead flats). To help people get to work you need to build cycle lanes that connect housing to employment. A cycle lane down Romford Road would be a great help to all - it’s scary to cycle down there just now.6/9/20 7:04

Inadequate or lack of cycle lanes

Martina Gabrielli•4 years ago Comment from "Newham Streets Survey - June 2020"Romford Road is shocking for cyclists,it's a main road used by many and is a main route for people going to work, should be a priority to have vastly improved and protected cycling lanes on Romford road, too many potholes, cars parked on cycle lanes, potholes etc.Romford Road could be an amazing route for cyclists if it was safer.6/17/20 9:58

Inadequate or lack of cycle lanes

Martina Gabrielli•4 years ago Comment from "Newham Streets Survey - June 2020"Romford Road, from Stratford to Forest Gate (and beyond) has inadequate cycle lanes for the number of cyclists using this stretch of road.6/9/20 20:52

Inadequate or lack of cycle lanes

Martina Gabrielli•4 years ago Comment from "Newham Streets Survey - June 2020"Making Romford Road cycle friendly is a huge challenge but can be done. Proper wide cycle lanes please and no parking in bus lanes. If they can create safe cycling lanes from Stratford to Aldgate East there is no excuse not to continue that cycle path up to Manor Park. We have the worst air in the UK and the majority of us don't even have a car. Us cyclists shouldn't have to weave around the back streets in filthy air to stay safe. It should be less tempting to jump in the car. End of.6/11/20 12:43

Inadequate or lack of cycle lanes

Martina Gabrielli•4 years ago Comment from "Newham Streets Survey - June 2020"I think there is a huge opporutnity to establish a dedicated Cylce lane from Startford to Illford town Centre. Romford road is a main road and the imbalance is clear - high Air pollution, cars are given priority, cyclists and pedestrains need to come to the forefront and revolutionise this well known road that everyone can safely use.Secondly Increased bike stands for locking your bikes, introduce the cycle pods that are currently scattered around in other areas like forest gate.6/12/20 14:45

Inadequate or lack of cycle lanes

Martina Gabrielli•4 years ago Comment from "Newham Streets Survey - June 2020"Cycle lanes are an after thought on the Romford road. Poorly marked, poor tarmac condition, narrow lane space and dangerous stop/start areas where lane ends suddenly. High percentage of drivers on Romford Rd drive fast&without care. Without wider/segregated cycle lanes people cannot safely commute on the main artery road from Newham to the City6/18/20 19:03

High vehicle speeds

Martina Gabrielli•4 years ago Comment from "Newham Streets Survey - June 2020"When cycling I hate how the road narrows at this point and cars speed up to get in front of you.6/12/20 9:55

Inadequate or lack of cycle lanes

Martina Gabrielli•4 years ago Comment from "Newham Streets Survey - June 2020"This road is very scary to cycle on. CS2 should be extended, there is plenty of space and it would be a great way of connecting Forest Gate and Stratford for cyclists.6/9/20 20:04

Inadequate or lack of cycle lanes

Martina Gabrielli•4 years ago Comment from "Newham Streets Survey - June 2020"The cycle lanes on Romford Road are a joke, a thin strip pained on the pavement where rubbish is dumped, an embarrassingly bad cycle crossing. This was a waste of money, build something that can actually be used.6/11/20 20:44

Inadequate or lack of pedestrian

Martina Gabrielli•4 years ago Comment from "Newham Streets Survey - June 2020"It takes forever to cross this junction on foot. Each road has to be crossed in two stages, which means people have to wait on the traffic island, huddled together, closed in by barriers. Many people jump the red light because they feel the wait is too long. Please make this junction more pedestrian friendly!6/9/20 20:19

Inadequate or lack of cycle lanes

Martina Gabrielli•4 years ago Comment from "Newham Streets Survey - June 2020"pollution and traffic rates are very high on the romford road which will discourage cycling and walking. This is a very wide road which could easily accomodate segregated cycling lanes6/18/20 5:16

Inadequate or lack of cycle lanes

Martina Gabrielli•4 years ago Comment from "Newham Streets Survey - June 2020"Cycle lane on Romford Road (Stratford to Ilford) is a death trap. Aside from a few areas where roads have been redone, cycle lanes are full of very dangerous pot holes. In addition, cards are parked on the cycle lane most of the day. What's the point in restricting the parking only between 4pm and 7pm?!6/12/20 16:22

Inadequate or lack of cycle lanes

Martina Gabrielli•4 years ago Comment from "Newham Streets Survey - June 2020"Romford Road is a death trap for cyclists. It is wide enough for two lanes of traffic, a cycle lane and pavement on both sides. The road is in terrible condition, cars speed and cyclists have to contend with buses.6/18/20 10:37

Inadequate or lack of cycle lanes

Martina Gabrielli•4 years ago Comment from "Newham Streets Survey - June 2020"There needs to be a segregated cycle lane joining the end of CS2 in stratford, the length of the romford road to ilford. repairs need to be made to parts of the romford road which are deadly to cyclists, especially between Shrewsbury Road and Ilford. the romford road needs to be a red route: there are far too many vehicles parked all the way along it, making cycling very dangerous.6/8/20 18:38

Not enough space on the pavement

Inadequate or lack of cycle lanes

Martina Gabrielli•4 years ago Comment from "Newham Streets Survey - June 2020"Romford Road is not safe for cyclists. The CS2 extension from Stratford to Ilford needs to be the first thing to happen to make cyclists in Newham feel safe on the roads. It's a direct commuter route into Central London. Currently the painted bike lanes are a joke. There's ample space in the wide carriageway it needs to be completely redesigned to make it walking and cycling centric. The parking spaces along the road on the pavement have to go.6/9/20 5:16
