£5000A group of 84 households in the Holbrook Road, Bull Road, Willis Road and Corporation St would like to address fly-tipping through a 6 month project aimed at improving the well-being of the residents through connecting them to their local area and improving the surroundings by reducing fly-tipping.A creative core group of 6 residents has come up with a programme of activities for all local residents, that will address the issues in a light-touch, thought-provoking way. We hope will result in a widening of the group to neighbouring streets; Corporation Street, Morley Road, Meath Road, Harcourt, Napier, Ranelagh and Eve Road.An artist and a gardener will lead workshops for local residents in activities aimed to improve the local area with planters, a mural and surprising sculptural installations to disrupt the pattern of fly-tipping that is such a persistent problem. If the project is a success, like Forest Gate in Bloom, we hope that other projects will be inspired to join together and improve their streets.

My house is a dumping zone for rubbish (corner of Holbrook Rd and Corporation St). Some local children from the school and different neighbours have made hand made signs to discourage dumping. Over lockdown we started a neighbourhood WhatsApp group and our neighbours are really keen to work together to combat this and change attitudes of people living nearby to stop fly-tipping and support the council's enforcement of illegal rubbish dumping. Other areas might want to do a project with the local school to stop cars idling or others might want to do an activity with neighbours to get people together and tidy up the street.
