XLP Stratford Centre Youth Hub - £20,000

XLP is about working to create positive futures for disadvantaged young people in Newham and beyond. At the heart of the Stratford Centre, is the XLP Hub which has grown in use and impact over the pandemic. Its also an easy place to get to and a safe place to be. Now we want to provide even more activities for young people. All these align with health and wellbeing and safer communities priorities.

Recently kitted out with new gym equipment and bikes (with more to come!), we plan to run more health and fitness sessions and team building exercises. We have special girls-only gym sessions and girls groups to provide support and guidance to young women. All of the gym leaders are young people themselves working on their leadership.

The centre also has a recording studio where there is a chance to create lyrics, lay down tracks, compose hip hop and rap, and use some great equipment.

We are also running employability training for those who are not in education or training to help them have the skills and confidence to access and remain in employment.
