It would be nice to see the in/out flow rearranged, and, as someone suggested, a refurbishment of the nice characteristic existing building.
I believe also the internal space should be better planned to have a more efficient impact.
Definitely a lift would be great for all the elderly neighbours and also the future generations on such a busy line as the District.
It would be great also to level a bit the pavement going towards the market as the slope is quite abrupt, especially for wheelchairs or people with disabilities.

If possible multiple exits perhaps close off the overground look on platform If possible for more space above to develop step free access and use the side roads next to station as an expansion project as it only used as a dumping point or drugging spot.

A small lift like at East Ham Station would be very welcome.

Yes to step-free access, as a new mum I took to going to Canning Town on the bus instead of struggling down the steps!

So many needs for step free access for elderly and families with buggies! In dire need of step free access

It’s unbelievable that disabled, wheelchair users and families with buggies can’t really use this station. Absolute no brainier to get it sorted and should be a top priority.

Yes of course , long overdue. I thought this was already happening with input from Upton gardens developers / tfl . Should happen - but not jeopardise small improvement projects like the others listed on this site as totally different ballpark

Step free access at Upton Park will provide services for both the existing community and future-proofing the station as well.
I'd also like to see care taken with the facade to give it a proper cleaning and update - it's a beautiful building but needs some love. And finally, TfL has some great initiatives such as Underground in Bloom, and I'd like to see the station make an effort towards these intiatives in the future. They also have funding for station improvements including improved signage, murals and art installations etc, and Newham should tap into this to help fund upgrades.

@Imogen Thompson - Yes some restoration works will be great. I think the station building should be the start of any restoration works.

- The station building itself really could do with an extension at the rear to create space at the top of the stairs to ease congestion and install some desperately needed lifts.
- To improve traffic flow they could create a bigger waiting/entrance area by moving the tuck shop into the corner where the unused ticket offices are - it only takes two people to congregate in one of the doorways and we’ve got a bottleneck situation
- I would love to see something done about the side entrance, unsurprisingly it’s hardly used because it’s not that accessible with the railings and steps to the back. It needs opening out with an access ramp to the front

Not just step free from the trains to the platforms.
Escalators/elevators would be amazing for wheelchair users, parents with buggies or the elderly and people with difficultly walking. This is long overdue I'm sure many will agree.
