Aims and outcomes: To allow self directed unstructured play between groups of children of all ages
Outcomes: Positive effect on wellbeing, many positive outcomes socially, emotionally and for communication and physical fitness that occur naturally in undirected play.
Description: This project will provide the opportunity for self directed play between multi aged groups of children within an open and unused area of Brampton Park. It will provide the potential for connecting tarps, tarps and loose parts to play with. This may be a range of materials: wood, tyres, sticks, logs, crates, tins, sand, wood chips and various tools.
This could benefit the many families that live around Brampton park. Forest groups, nature play groups and interested schools may also come to visit the space from surrounding areas.
It meets all the priority areas:
1. It makes the area safer as more families will use this quiet corner of the park.
2. Children who get to play in nature become more attuned to it and take better care of it.
3. It will provide a space to play and explore for families in this park plus provide more connection between families as loose part play often involves cooperation between children of multiple ages in a way that playground equipment does not.
