Description
· Following the profound impact of SENshine Fest at Timber Lodge, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park Summer 25, inspired by the love of a mother for her autistic son and the lack of SEN friendly safe activities, we welcomed 200 families and 200 on the waiting list. The community asked, “What can we, as a community, do to make this regular provision for our families?” The SENshine Project is the answer.
A bold, youth-led programme co-designed and steered by four autistic young leaders and their families, it transforms one moment of joy ( The SENshine Fest) into sustained, sensory-aware weekly sessions and two community SENshine Fest showcases. SENshine expands access, reduces isolation, strengthens family resilience, increases wellbeing and creates safe spaces where young people with SEN can be themselves, free and happy with no judgement. It proves that communities hold the solutions to their own challenges, giving families with SEN, and those who want to learn and embrace them, the chance to truly shine.
