Description
The Next Steps Of Life is a Youth-led application, based in Fight For Peace with the organisation Iconic Steps.
This project aims to provide a service to young people of Beckton and Royal Docks by exploring the challenges faced by those aged 15–25 around education, careers, health, and mental wellbeing. This work is delivered through two mini-projects.
The first mini project is called "Young and Heard". This is a research led project where we conduct interviews with young people to explore key topics including career preparation, financial pressures, body image, skin conditions such as eczema and acne, and mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, and substance misuse. To acknowledge their contribution, participants receive snacks, tote bags, and keychains. Additionally, we reach out to local services around the area to provide guidance and bring out more awareness on services that are out there in the area for young people.
The second mini project is called "Grow as you Go". This is a workshop based project delivered in secondary schools, colleges, and sixth forms. These sessions focus on personal development, resilience, and creating a stronger sense of community connection. In addition to snacks, 15 young people across all participating schools will also receive a £20 Argos voucher.
