Great idea - not just for kids either. We adults need fun too - and this could be a nice way to engage local artists too. Also we all need confidence to improve our relationship with streets - this is one good way.

I think temporary road closures are a wonderful idea. However, my memories of childhood are playing on the pavements with the chalk and hopscotch , 5 stones, and the dreaded two balls on the end house walls, which were ar really wonderful hand eye co-ordination games. Dreaded because those with end walls weren't happy at having their walls played against! But skipping, all these simple games, we played on the pavement, as well as knock down ginger, I wonder if anyone remembers that.

I'd just rather a vibrant, colourful dedicated playground. Mind you, my children would love it!
