Sunday Market
From "Manor Park"
Go to the project

What: Temporary road closure to facilitate a local Sunday Market
- Organise local traders, artists and entrepreneurs to showcase their work through a biweekly Sunday market.
- Host business support training sessions at the library to help people who would like to start their own business.
- Beyond the biweekly market, the proposed community cafe across the station can become a more permanent space to showcase artifacts and produce.
Where: Manor Park Road / in front on Post Office Depot

This is a great idea - makes use of a space well used by people accessing the station and Wandsted flats - but is currently unattractive due to parked cars and new trees/planting.

I do like the idea of a market, however Ifeel a local market should be near the library on the the main road, there is a very wide pavement there, it gives the library some status as a centre, which is much needed. It also connects more of Manor Park together, rather than having a market tucked away in the Conservation area. It is easier to see what is going on and more likely to attract people if it is held on the wide pavements. . However, new beautiful artist designed railings would really be the key to this. They would create safe space within which to hold a market.
Should a second market, more specialised be desired, then the Blakesly arms could be the extra one. This brings issues of dealing with parking, and the Post Office and safe access and egress.

Yes! Forest Gate has already proved this model works. This would bring much needed buzz & business to the area at the weekend. Food stalls could hero the multicultural flavours of the borough and help to support local artists & retailers. An easy quick win.

Great idea to bring life to the area. Would the posts blocking the road come out for access for the flats opposite community garden?

@Husnain BHATTI only issue would be parking and congestion if there's a way we can deal with it then it can work, a good idea is too look at the Sunday market they have in Shoreditch and old Street

Good idea. Probably better idea to use space on Station Rd for better visibility. if it is successful Manor Park Road would be an ideal spill over.
