Description

Styled for Change is a creative empowerment project led by Caramel Rock, aimed at supporting young people (aged 14–25) in Beckton and the Royal Docks through a series of fashion design, textile, and personal development workshops. The project will run over 12 months and engage up to 60 young people from disadvantaged and underrepresented backgrounds, particularly those not in education, employment, or training (NEET), and young women from ethnic minority communities.

Participants will learn skills in sewing, garment construction, design, and presentation while also gaining confidence, improving communication, and building positive peer relationships. The project will culminate in a community fashion showcase event celebrating their achievements and connecting them with local families, creative professionals, and potential employers.

This is a fantastic project that combines creativity with real opportunities for personal growth and future pathways. The focus on fashion design and textiles is inspiring, and it’s great to see how the workshops build both technical skills and confidence. The final showcase event is a brilliant way to celebrate young people’s achievements while strengthening community connections and opening doors to careers in the creative industries.
