Description
Rip Fitness recognises that one in every five residents of Newham is over the age of fifty, and its mission is to educate this demographic about the age-related changes that occur in the structure and function of muscles, as well as how the addition of resistance exercise may help avoid frailty while also improving mobility and independence. My project will have a total of forty-eight fitness sessions held throughout the year. During these sessions, participants will alternate between sitting and standing exercises, primarily focusing on upper and lower body training and exercises focusing on balance. Eleven workshops on the importance of strength, flexibility, and physiotherapy for the treatment of age-related ailments and dementia will also be held during the course of the year. These fitness programmes and workshops will encourage involvement with meaningful dialogue through the shared experience of cultural activities, remembering, and an atmosphere that is beneficial to older people to enhance their health and well-being and decrease feelings of loneliness. Funding for this community project will go towards compensating staff members who are specialists in their disciplines to assist me in organising and leading these sessions and workshops.
This project has seeked permission from Forest Gate library to run sessions, if successful
