Youth DIY Workshop

Our DIY Workshop project has already benefitted local young people and families by providing opportunities to learn practical skills, improve wellbeing, and connect socially in a supportive environment. With the ongoing cost of living crisis putting increasing pressure on households, this project is more vital than ever. Learning to repair and reuse items not only helps families save money but also promotes independence, reduces waste, and provides a real sense of achievement.

With additional funding, we will expand and enhance our workshop to reach more people and provide new opportunities. This will include three community Repair Cafés, where young people and families can learn how to fix broken household items instead of replacing them — keeping belongings in use for longer, cutting costs, and reducing environmental impact. We will also deliver an exciting “Make and Build an Electric Buggy” project, designed to inspire creativity, teamwork, and technical problem-solving. In addition, we will extend our DIY workshop beyond the youth zone to directly engage the wider community, making these opportunities more accessible and inclusive.
