This project aims to purchase sewing machines and accessories to run sessions with Plaistow residents to teach them how to sew and how to upcycle old materials and clothes. The purchase of 6 sewing machines will allow residents at each session to learn and practice sewing skills that will be useful going forward. There 4 sets of 12 sessions per training up to the end of March. Participants will be able to help improve the environment by reusing old materials and will learn skills that will benefit their families as well open up employment opportunities. The resulting output will be exhibited at the completion of the final session. The sessions will be run and the machines stored at Plaistow library. This will allow the continuation/ resumption of sessions following the end of the cycle.
