Safe Romford Road Crossings
From "Manor Park"
Go to the project

What: Make crossing Romford Road safer for pedestrians, and specifically children walking or cycling to school.
- Incorporate traffic calming measures and safe zebra or pelecan crossings on other intersections of Romford Rd, especially as they relate to schools and students walking to and from home after school.
- Use colour and signage to highlight these crossings and make them more appealing.
Where: Romford Road intersections with Salisbury Rd, Herbert Rd, Meanley Rd and Rabbits Rd / Fourth Avenue

This is a good suggestion. There are very few crossing points across Romford road and where traffic lights are , they are slow to turn red and so people don't use them. Romford road is a bustling shopping route and so better to enable many crossing points (that are cheap to implement) rather than fewer and costly

The area would become less hostile to active travel if there were low traffic neighbourhoods, less illegal parking and signalled crossings of main roads that recognised that pedestrians should have priority.

Traffic calming measures would be welcomed.

It might also be worth proposing a scheme for cyclists to travel against traffic on one way roads (as is the case in Camden).
