River Church Community Garden

From "People Powered Custom House & Canning Town"

Go to the project

Proposed budget

GBP 20,000

Description

River Church from Canning Town would like funding to establish and develop a community allotment garden with a refurbished caravan cafe. The aim would be to engage the local community, grow produce together, learn about "farm to fork" principles and build relationships.

We hope to provide a green haven for all those living in the surrounding area of Canning Town where many tower blocks and redevelopments are being built.

As well as this being a green haven, a portion of the allotment will be given over to growing produce for a food club, running basic cookery classes and developing an outdoor learning space for schools, pre-school and home school groups to come and learn about growing fruit and vegetables.

Watch out for invitations to come and join us in this exciting project.

This is exciting. If the cooking classes worked within nutritional and budget values this will have even more positive benefits.

@Cheryl Noutch This is fantastic!! Grateful for the opportunity and excited to get started!
This is just what is needed for the local community. It’s providing opportunity to engage young and older people in learning about growing produce and enjoying it
It is amazing to see how this place got transformed in few months already, from a neglected, derelict space into a garden full of life, colour, fruits and vegetables. Fantastic idea to create a place to relax, to learn new life skills, to socialize. Definitely it would be a great benefit to the community
A wonderful vision. In its creation, it shall bring connections, love, community and hope. When completed it will create unity, knowledge, growth and peace. I look forward to seeing it come to fruition.

Making use of this space will enhance the overall appearance of the area. The value to the community both as a place to work play together and it's therapeutic value for enhancing mental wellbeing are very exciting prospects. Let's build this sustainable community project together! "Give a man a fish you feed him for a day, teach him to fish you feed him for a lifetime".
