RefurbIsh front of Anchor House and supporting young people into employment

We have a massive housing problem in Newham. In the year ending March 31st 2022 we accommodated 373 individuals across all of our services. We recorded 260 new individuals and we supported 135 individuals to move on into independent accommodation. Since January 2022 we have engaged 30 individuals who are experiencing homelessness in our Community Partnerships programme and supported 10 individuals to secure employment. We want to refurbish the reception and front area of Anchor House ( built in 1962) to complete the refurbishment of our entire ground floor.. We have raised £93,000 to do this and are only £20,000 short of our target. We will improve the look of the building and improve security and confidentiality for the 155 people who are experiencing homelessness that we accommodate at any one time. We will provide a safe and welcoming environment for the many individuals who enter our doors. We also want to improve our look with a gardening project to involve our residents and make our space look greener both inside and outside. We need to part - fund a Resident Engagement Officer post in our Community Partnerships Team who continue to involve young residents aged 18 - 25 to participate, improve confidence and self - esteem and secure opportunities and skills to secure employment and access independent accommodation. We impact on many individual lives and we need your help to carry on doing so. Sadly there has never been a greater need for our work. Newham still has the highest percentage per capita of homelessness in England. according to Shelter the national charity. Help us to change this.
