Refugee Youth - English, Food and Cooking Project

Hello,

I am Adis and I would like to apply to run a project at Dost Centre for Young Refugees and Migrants, where I have attended for 3 years as a young person and where I now volunteer.

We will use the funding towards the English Teacher and to buy food for Youth Club every week and to buy cooking ingredients to do regular, monthly cooking sessions.

The funding will pay the rent for Shipman Youth Zone for a year as well as the cost of the English Teacher and all food over this time.

We use the Shipman Youth Zone every Monday and run an English Class from 3.30pm - 5.45pm and then Youth Club from 6pm - 8pm.

I have been attending Dost Centre since I was 16 years old and I am now 20 and I volunteer at Dost every Monday, as well as on trips and residentials, so I know how important it is for the young people who attend, to learn how to speak English and to have free, healthy food and to learn how to cook, as we have all come to the UK alone and we need to learn to communicate and to look after ourselves, in a safe, supportive and fun environment.

I have lived in Newham since I arrived in the UK and study and live here and really enjoy giving back to the other young people who come to Dost and I also gain new skills whilst doing this.
