The voluntary services of the team are highly commendable, I see quite a few familiar faces from the Upton Centre Community days, after a long gap nice to have a location for interaction. Thank you team for organising the Thursday Club, a much needed space for overall well being.

This is the rarest and most platform Radha Krishna seniors club. It is essential for health, mental health socialisation and other support

This is undoubtedly an excellent initiative aimed to provide much needed support to elderly and students. Senior club will offer a platform for elderly to socialise, share ideas thus greatly improving their emotional well being. Students group is a excellent idea, can form as support network and a much needed channel where students can express themselves freely without fear of prejudice or being judged.
If you need a free outdoor venue (maybe for some outings for your seniors?), The UP Garden might be able to help! Check us out on www.theUPgarden.org and use the contact form to get in touch. Good luck with your project!

Don't know if anyone from newham council is reading this but there are too many similar projects. There is :- 1 ) Radha Krishna social club for elderly Hindus at one of their temples - yoga, discussions 2) Milap social club for elderly Hindu women - yoga, exercise, music, outings 3) Companions social club for elderly Muslims at their mosque - exercise, health discussions, hot meals 4 ) Silver Connections social club for elderly Asian women at the library - yoga, hot meals 5) Stay Strong Stay Young strength classes for elderly people at the library - exercise, health discussions, cultural activities 6) Seniors Got Talent creative workshops for elderly people - health discussions, music, art How is the council going to ensure that nearly one quarter of the funding won't be spent on 6 similar projects? And like every year there are multiple greening projects too (7).
@Jay Smith Thank you for your comments. You mentioned about similarity in the proposed project. However, all other project runs at different venues and different times. This project would give access to the people residing in Stratford area especially near to Mary land station and easy bus transport link. You need to look at out come of such activities that benefits the people who are socially isolated and need encouragement for their health and well being.

@Narendra Rao I have looked at the outcomes already thank you very much. They seem to be all benefitting older people through a social club, so it's all the same outcomes. and 4 of them seem to be for older asian people. Just because they are being held at different venues doesn't change the fact that the offering is basically the same. Forest Gate and Maryland ward isnt actually that big and there are plenty of buses here, so the different locations doesnt justify the fact we might end up with 20% of the funding going on 6 similar social clubs.

Where is Radha Krishna please? Are these clubs only for Hindus? How will the £7950 be spent? How many club sessions? How many spaces in each session?
@Jay Smith Thanks for your interest in Radha Krishna proposal . The activity will be based in the Maryland area. The project was prompted by need expressed / exhibited by the local Hindu community . Although prompted by such a demography which influences the philosophy and value base eg a Dharmic perspective , the group which falls in the category Health & Wellbeing is open to anyone of the community who wishes to attend irrespective of race gender ethnicity sexual orientation or class .as long as they subscribe to the values of vegetarianism and non consumption of alcohol .The figure of the projected budget was based on costs of hiring a space : having guest speakers : refreshments : public liability insurance : etc . The group will run for 40 weeks of the calendar year . Please keep in touch and we would be happy to meet and interact with you so you get to know the Hindu community better

@Sheila Maharaj Thank you very much. When you say "as long as they subscribe to the values of vegetarianism and non consumption of alcohol", do you mean for the times that they are at your social club, or generally in their personal lives? i can see why you dont want people drinking alcohol or bringing meat to your social lunches, or even talking about doing them, but what does it matter if they do those things outside of the social club? Second question is what is the Maryland venue?
@Jay Smith Alcohol and non vegetarian food is not allowed on the premises. We do respect other's faith and values and their personal dietary needs.
