Planters to fight fly-tipping

From "Manor Park Community Assemblies 2022"

Go to the project

This application is for Street Planters that will be placed in the fly-tipping hot-spots.

We would like to have at least 4 in Manor Park ward to play an important part in beautifying an unloved area where possible we will use plants that will filter dangerous pollutants from the air.

Contrary to the usual approach (engaging with authorities), we will work with the local faith & community organisations and leverage "I love New Ham" app data (as you can signal about fly-tipping there) to propose data-driven proposal on the hot-spots.

Then, we will work with the highways team to locate planters in key locations and work with local residents & communities holding planting days where possible.

As a stretch goal, we would engage with prominent community-driven organisations in the ward (food banks, religious groups, sport teams) and businesses to sponsor the planters to ensure long life for the plants and additional boost for the local population initiatives.

I love be this with food mixed with wild flowers
I love this idea and really hope you are successful in receiving funding. If you haven’t already seen the planters around the Durham Road Conservation zone please do stop by and to see what the community has achieved over the last eight years. I’ve set up an Instagram page listing the plants that seem to thrive (or at least survive) the quite challenging environment a community flowerbed can be, especially before established. https://www.instagram.com/lovee12flowers/
Such a simple thing to do and an easy way to add some greenery and improve biodiversity! Love this idea
