Description

We are planning to deliver PictureEast Film Festival 2027 (PEFF27), a free 7 day community and cultural celebration taking place in Newham for the third time, from January 25-31, 2027. From March 2026, there will be monthly sessions to engage artists and organisations in every aspect of the PEFF27 - leading to skills development, hands-on training, volunteering opportunities and work placements. The event will showcase the borough's rich diversity allowing groups to express themselves and feel safe. Our programme will feature a carefully curated mix of artforms, live performances, talks, Q&A sessions, marketplace, children’s activities and signposting professional services when exploring themes of identity, difference and lived experience. We pride ourselves on welcoming all backgrounds to join us and find common ground through conversation and creativity.

TNBFC is a social enterprise and we use film as a tool for social impact and transformative change. For the last decade, we have been regularly commissioned by the council and other funders to run Newham Community Cinema at Stratford Library. Beloved by local residents, it reflects the cultural calendar from Holocaust Memorial Day, Pride, International Women’s Day, Windrush Day, Srebrenica Memorial Day to Black History Month, Islamophobia Awareness Month and Disability History Month.

I’ve really enjoyed and appreciated the free films and post screening discussions taking place at Stratford library and sometimes other places in the Borough. A great way to meet local people with similar interests in film
I love the community spirit. Having a place to gather together and be free to be our authentic self. A place to relax with own tribe without any jugement. I am so grateful to have findd a such place. Thanks for all your hard work.
This is brilliant and we were so proud to support you in bringing PictureEast to life the first time around! We’d love it if you were able to bring the festival back in 2027!
Love the panel setup and the discussions and interaction with the audience. It's a wonderful community resource which bring people from all walks of life together.

What TNBFC provides is much needed and valued as a community resource. The professional, informative and community standards compliment each other and remain a blueprint of best practice in expanding the scope of film, discussion and networking

A valuable community project that showcases a wide range of films, each followed by post-screening discussions with a panel of film professionals. I recently volunteered with them (because I really like what TNBFC do), which gave me a deeper insight into the breadth of their work. It’s a fantastic initiative that brings people together—offering education, entertainment, history, and social connection through the shared experience of film.

TNBC, exposes and share films and events that is valuable in a community that is struggling to maintain their identity. They encourage discussions to elevate and provoke some of the issues in communities affected by social behaviours. Their invited speakers often share their personal experiences with a wide range of people, which brings value to the experience. Love TNBC
