Odessa Park Improvements- £5000

From "Forest Gate Community Assemblies"

Go to the project

Improving the facilities and environment of Odessa Park will have significant impact on it's current users and local community. It aligns with all three of the priorities voted for in Forest Gate; Cleanliness & Waste, Nature & biodiversity and Public Spaces & Buildings. By providing additional seating, tidying and replanting the overgrown areas as well as installing better play equipment this park could be an inviting and cared for green space benefiting all local residents.

This is a great initiative. The space has a lot of potential and whilst a lot of locals can be found there on a sunny day, there are not enough bins supplied to handle everyone. Just this weekend had at least 6 bin bags piling up next to the bin making it an unsightly and unsafe space. I actually saw a kid fall over them while playing catch. Not to mention the burned up climbing frame. I really hope this initiative gets the green light.

It would be great to see this really useful space better utilised - it definitely needs some care and attention. Could any of the equipment left over from the West Ham Park overhaul be repurchased here to save on capital expenditure?

I love this idea. I did plant 60 trees here though a bad winter saw them off-think we could get more from wildlife charity. Also, think it would be great to have a bit more of a nature area for kids to play - logs for climbing and bug habitats for interest and learning. This could be a cost effective way to add and improve.

This playground is in a great location with several schools and nurseries nearby and is often busy with lots of different sectors of the community enjoying the space- for example adults playing basketball/working out alongside children playing in the playground. The space looks very uncared for however, the provisions for small children are quite poor and now that the train climbing frame has been vandalised there is very little for them to interact with. My family and I would love to see this playground improved and believe many other members of the local area would benefit too, including the shop on the corner!

Totally agree with this, we live round the corner and rarely visit here because the play equipment is so desperately in need of repair and the green space is so bare- really hope this gets the go ahead

More plants and playground equipment would be really great. It’s a lovely community space that gets a lot of use. Some of the equipment removed for covid has yet to be returned and the burnt climbing frame train is a sad sight.

This is a great idea. This park needs a long overdue facelift, it's definitely fallen behind other parks in the area.
