Go to the project

A sensory garden called “Newham Narrative”, will be set up in the area district of Manor Park. Intending to use of the back area of the Jack Cornwall centre it will benefit the wider intergenerational and diverse community i.e. children’s classes from the 5 local surrounding schools, refuge groups, domestic violence groups, care groups/special-needs and the elderly from surrounding care homes.

The sensory/storytelling garden will be a green space for promoting mental well-being with the use of sound, smell and green space aesthetics.

The aim of the sensory garden will be to establish community unity and togetherness with the use of storytelling, poetry, afternoon tea, group meetings, mini herb gardening sessions cetera, sharing skills and encouraging the community to come together and enjoy a beautiful therapeutic green space.

The Manor park ward is surrounded by five local schools several old people’s homes and stay at home mums, "Newham Narrative" sensory garden intends to bridge gaps promoting well-being, equality and community togetherness.

With Gardening being a universal language, it can be done by anyone, encouraging photography projects with exhibitions, storytellers and discussion, non bake healthy snack sessions suitable for all ages and also non intrusive but highly effective forms of art therapy and such.

I love this idea, it’s innovative and as a member of the community find it very interesting and definitely would love to be apart of something like this

This is an excellent project for the community and this community is in need of rebuilding, a project like this will enable residents to come together to build the community back again, I believe that it will also reach out to many, such as families, young people, the elderly, single parents and many more. This will also be able to inspire, empower, uplift and encourage individuals from the community
@Nadz Khan Thank you for your feed back, this great to hear!
Wat a brilliant concept, we need more things like this in the area. This will also help the environment too. Adults and children will enjoy this too.

This is an excellent idea not only would it benefit adults but also the children. May the most high bless this venture
