Proposed budget

GBP 20,000

Description

We’re launching weekly 2-hour multisport sessions for young people aged 12–18 with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in Newham. Led by experienced coaches and mentors at the University of East London’s Sports Dock, the sessions will help young people improve fitness, confidence and social skills in a safe, supportive space. This project aims to reduce isolation, support mental wellbeing and help young people feel part of their community. Sessions are carefully designed so everyone can join in, make friends and progress at their own pace.

We’ll also run a Family Engagement Day and a Celebration Event so parents and carers can connect, see the young people’s achievements and share feedback.

By working closely with local schools, volunteers and SEND support services, we hope to reach those who would most benefit and help create a fairer, more inclusive Newham where every young person has the chance to thrive.

We’d love your support and feedback to help make this project happen.

I am writing to express my full support for NASSA and their application for funding from Newham to deliver a year-long programme of twice-weekly multi-skills sessions for young people with Special Educational Needs. NASSA has a long-standing reputation for providing high-quality, inclusive, and impactful programmes that empower young people across the community. Their commitment to creating safe, supportive environments where every young person can develop confidence, life skills, and a sense of belonging is truly outstanding. The proposed multi-skills sessions will offer meaningful opportunities for young people with Special Educational Needs to grow, connect, and flourish both physically and socially. This initiative aligns strongly with community needs and will undoubtedly contribute to improving overall wellbeing and access to inclusive sport and activity in Newham.

NASSA have positively impacted thousands and thousands ( >100,000) Newham residents since its inception and done so efficiently and extremely effectively. I have every expectation that this new initiative will deliver another high impact and efficient service for the borough of Newham. We ( Excel London ) are fully behind and supportive of NASSA and this bid.

NASSA are already a great Charity who positively support young people in the Borough of Newham; this sounds like another positive initiative for the local community so would fully support.
