New Way Row is a new community project which aims to support existing, and potentially new, organisations/community groups.
We have begun to repair and re-use derelict garages.
The plan is to link up with local groups, and also be led by the local community, providing a hub for this part of Canning Town, as well as other groups that are based in Newham, with affordable meeting and event space.
One of the main initiatives that we aim to support is a project to distribute unwanted items that are otherwise in a working or desirable enough condition. We also aim to provide a workshop, where some of the items would be fixed.
It will benefit the local community by helping to reduce fly-tipping, as well as providing much-needed space, including for young people, who could learn repair skills in our space.
We also aim to provide a community notice board, and growing plants, including edible plants for free harvesting.
We aim to improve health and wellbeing for residents by bringing communities together, helping to reduce alienation and isolation. As well as encouraging the practise of active mutual aid, and the benefits that it can bring to people.
