Multifacture Makerspace Academy

The Multifacture Makerspace Academy is a youth-led initiative based at Crafted Corner (Silvertown Way). The project will empower young people aged 16–25 by giving them hands-on access to fabrication tools such as 3D printers, laser cutters, and CNC machines. It will provide training, mentoring, and opportunities to design and deliver their own workshops for the wider community.

Over nine months, the programme will create at least 180 direct learning opportunities. Young people will progress from learners to leaders—gaining technical ability, teamwork, and confidence in presenting and teaching others. Alongside training, participants will work on community-led projects and commissioned collaborations, building practical experience that connects education to real-world applications.

By reducing barriers to advanced equipment and providing a safe, supportive space, the project will foster creativity, enterprise, and employability. It will also create ripple effects through affordable public workshops, inspiring residents of all ages to learn new skills, repair and make items, and engage with a culture of innovation.

Funding will ensure equitable access, cover materials and facilitation, and establish the makerspace with essential equipment. This project will strengthen community facilities, empower young people, and build long-term opportunities for enterprise and collaboration.
