Description

Moving Stories is a creative learning project that will bring dance and storytelling into Green Street schools. Led by world renowned dance company, Akram Khan Company, the programme brings professional dancers into schools to work with students and teachers. It helps children to use movement to explore ideas, share their own stories, and build confidence in learning.

The project will run for one year across three local primary schools. Two classes in each school will work closely with our artists in weekly workshops, while all pupils will experience assemblies and taster sessions. Parents and carers will also be invited to join in through special workshops and school events, creating intergenerational opportunities to celebrate creativity together.

By working alongside teachers, we will also leave a lasting legacy. Staff will be supported to use movement as a teaching tool across the curriculum, so that children continue to benefit long after the project ends.

In total, Moving Stories will reach around 1,200 people in Green Street – children, teachers, and families – improving wellbeing, encouraging self-expression, and building stronger connections between schools and the wider community.

Help us bring this exciting project to Green Street!
