More bins and benches for the new city park - £5000

This proposal is for:

·     6 metal benches with a back in line with the existing ones.

·     4 extra bins, same as the existing ones.

·     Stickers for the bins to encourage its use.

·     A dispenser for bins liners for picnic’s waste, to be used in the summer hot spells, such as the project below.

Newham pays a fortune for the litter pickers every week, it would be so simple to have more bins, so in a way would offer value for money.

I would suggest that the blue circle near the metal slide could have benches around, in a social way in a circle formation, some benches could be on the long strips, and 2 more to add to the central bench where there is a tarmac rectangle, making a u shape for socialisation (as opposed to a single bench). The sitting area made of railway sleepers next to metal slide is missing its top, this needs replacing too.

There is a need for bins nearer to the benches and the exits and corners, namely: one more next to new city road, another next to Jacob’s house corner, another next to the long strip, and a few next to Haig Road West.

I would work in consultancy with a local urban planner to look at where to place the bins and benches, and possibly ask the residents with 3 choices for them to choose from.
