Manor Park Community Hub: Supporting Residents Through Green Initiatives

From "Manor Park Community Assemblies 2022"

Go to the project

We are proposing a holistic programme of activities and services designed to support individuals struggling due to the cost-of-living crisis and offer environmentally conscious solutions to address community needs from our community hub in Manor Park

Many in our community are reliant on foodbanks due to low wages and benefits, or no-recourse-to-public-funds immigration status. Whilst foodbanks are a lifeline, many are unfamiliar with the ingredients they receive. We will use donations from our foodbank and local businesses to create community meals that show people how to make use of these ingredients.

Clothing waste is a major issue globally, despite this many in our community cannot afford the clothes they need. We aim to run a clothing donation and swap service, where people can donate and pick up high quality second-hand clothes.

Private transport is expensive and pollutes our community. We aim to provide community hub clients with access to cycling lessons and means tested bike grants. This will increase residents' freedom to travel in a low cost and environmentally friendly way.

This is a brilliant idea. It would be great to consider a community fridge as part of this proposal.
    Fantastic proposal! Well considered too.
