Local streets Anti Fly-Tipping project Holbrook, Bull, Willis Rd& Corporation St

From "Stratford and West Ham Community Assemblies"

Go to the project

£5000

A group of 84 households in the Holbrook Road, Bull Road, Willis Road and Corporation St would like to address fly-tipping through a 6 month project aimed at improving the well-being of the residents through connecting them to their local area and improving the surroundings by reducing fly-tipping.

A creative core group of 6 residents has come up with a programme of activities for all local residents, that will address the issues in a light-touch, thought-provoking way. We hope will result in a widening of the group to neighbouring streets; Corporation Street, Morley Road, Meath Road, Harcourt, Napier, Ranelagh and Eve Road.

An artist and a gardener will lead workshops for local residents in activities aimed to improve the local area with planters, a mural and surprising sculptural installations to disrupt the pattern of fly-tipping that is such a persistent problem.

If the project is a success, like Forest Gate in Bloom, we hope that other projects will be inspired to join together and improve their streets.

Nothing better than empowering citizens by giving ownership of growing planters to build community resilience, while combating fly tipping. Excellent initiative

This is such a creative and well thought out project in order to improve the area. I live in Bull Road myself and fly tipping is a relentless problem, so excited to be able to support such an important community project to keep our streets clean.
I think it's a great idea, anything that can join the local residents up in a positive way and hopefully stop some of the constant fly tipping

Introducing artwork and planters into the area is not only a great way to make our streets more appealing, but hopefully, it will deter people from fly-tipping. I think it's a wonderful initiative that I'd fully support
